What’s your first and last name?

  • Barbie Jackson

What do you teach / what is your ‘title’ at school?

  • 3rd grade teacher

How are you involved in education?

  • I’ve taught in Sand Springs for 12 years. I currently teach 3rd grade in a self contained classroom. I am a public education advocate. I strongly believe in making our voices heard at the Capitol. I also manage the Sand Springs Parents Action and Advocacy Team facebook page: https://www.facebook.com/SandSpringsPaat

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • My ideal classroom is one where every student is engaged in authentic learning with the use of technology, collaboration, and hands-on projects. High Stakes Testing would not exist. Kids would come to school ready to learn and teachers come to school to teach and inspire students to greatness.

If you were to lead a session at Edcamp, what would it be about?

  • I would lead a session on Class Dojo. It has improved my classroom management and opened communication with parents.

What’s your first and last name?

  • Shawn Beard

What do you teach / what is your ‘title’ at school?

  • Director of Career Tech and Virtual Learning

How are you involved in education?

  • I have been involved with Sand Springs Public Schools since 1996 and currently work with our Virtual Academy and our Career Tech faculty at Sand Springs. I also work as an Instructional Coach to provide training in Google Apps, Chromebooks, iPads, Classroom Management, SMARTBoards, and a host of other topics. In addition, I am an instructor with The Eighth Floor and an Adjunct Instructor at TCC West Campus. The multiple duties keep me very busy.

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • My ideal classroom would involve the use of 1:1 computing and Google Apps, along with real world projects that focus on problem solving skills. By allowing the students to use pieces of technology such as Google Apps for Education, we can extend learning outside the walls and time constraints of our school day.

If you were to lead a session at Edcamp, what would it be about?

  • My focus this year has focused heavily on Google Apps integration, so I would likely talk about integrating Google Classroom, Forms, or Sheets into projects and labs.

What do you teach / what is your ‘title’ at school?

  • Kindergarten Teacher

How are you involved in education?

  • I have taught at Limestone Technology Academy in Sand Springs for 11 years. I have 25 Kindergarten brainiacs in my class who come to me with a variety of experiences and knowledge, but they are all eager to learn! For many of them, I am their first school experience, and I pride myself in making it a positive one! Outside of the classroom I am an advocate for public education and a lifelong learner! I’m also an #EdCampJunkie! I’m a co-organizer of #EdCampScience

What does your ideal school or classroom look like?

  • My ideal classroom would be full of inquiry and fun! My (small) class of Kindergarten students would all be learning and working at their own pace, and not constantly being assessed! They would also be using their 1:1 technology to solve problems, as well as to create and publish their work!

If you were to lead a session at Edcamp, what would it be about?

  • Getting to Know the New OAS for Science or Project Based Learning for Elementary
